Overview of Device States

In the Devices overview page you will see a Device State for each Device:
โ€‹

There are six states that can be applied to a Device, which are:

  1. Live (Deployed and active)

  2. Commissioning (Preparing for deployment)

  3. Decommissioned (Out of service)

  4. Testing (Used for testing)

  5. Maintenance (Down for maintenance)

  6. Spare (Spare or swap-out unit)

To see a description of each state, simply hover over it; example below:

How to update a Device State

By default, every device will be in 'Live' state, however if you wish to change this you can do so in a few different ways, outlined below:

1. Changing Device State - Single Device

To change a single Device state, simply click into the Device edit page.

Under the 'State' option, select the relevant state from the dropdown > save device.

2. Changing Device State - Multiple Devices

To change multiple Device state, simply select the checkbox next to the Devices you wish to update.

Now select the 'State' button at the top menu bar:

Select the relevant category from the dropdown > update devices.

3. Change Device State - Import / Bulk Register Devices

Using the Import / Bulk Register Devices feature it's possible to either apply Device states to single or multiple existing Devices, or apply a state to a Device while bulk registering it to your account.

To import via a spreadsheet, there must be a column with the header 'State' and the state must be written in lower case in this column. Example below:

In the Devices overview page, click the Import button in the top menu:

Find and upload your spreadsheet:

With the sheet uploaded, now map your columns to the relevant import field(s):

IMPORTANT!
โ€‹If updating existing Devices: The ID field MUST be included and mapped correctly. To obtain the ID for existing Devices, please Export the list of Devices.

Once data from your spreadsheet has been mapped, click Confirm to import data.

You will be presented with a confirmation notification on screen including the number of Devices successfully updated and you'll see the new states applied:
