Sony BRAVIA Professional Android 10 displays use “Pro-Mode tool” for configuration of the device for digital signage usage.

The tool allows you to install the embed signage apk file and configure the system to automatically start the app at power on.

This document takes you through the necessary steps to configure a Sony BRAVIA Professional screen to run embed.

Further help can be found here - https://pro-bravia.sony.net/guides/index.html

Before you begin, you will need:

  1. a USB storage device

  2. the latest embed arm64 Android apk loaded onto the root folder of the USB

Initial Setup:

Power on the screen and select the Language and follow the on screen basic device settings, including setting up the network connection.

Installing embed signage apk and auto-startup configuration:

Insert the USB storage device with the embed signage arm64 apk file.

Switch device into “Pro settings mode”

  • Select “Pro Mode Tool” from Apps list

  • Switch to Pro settings mode

    • Reply OK to confirmation prompt

    • “Pro settings in process” will be displayed top/centre of the screen.

  • Select settings gear wheel at top of the screen

  • Select “Pro Settings” from menu

  • Go down to “Install APK” (If the USB has not been connected, or an apk file is not found, this option will not be available)

  • Select the embed apk and click on install

    • Allow necessary permissions

  • Once installation is complete, open the app

    • You can now register the device to embed if you'd like

  • In Pro settings, select “Initial input source”

    • Select “Android app”

      • Package: com.embed.signage

      • Activity: com.embed.signage.MainActivity

      • Press OK

  • In Pro settings, select “Apps”

    • Disable all apps apart from;

      • Pro mode tool (This is important, failure to do this will require factory reset to exit Pro mode!).

      • embed

The device is now configured and ready to be switched into Pro mode (operational mode)

  • In Pro settings, select “Start Pro mode”.

    • Select OK on the confirmation prompt

    • The device will switch to Pro mode and restart. This may take some time. Once booted, the Apps screen will be displayed; allow the app a few seconds for embed to start

You're now set up and ready to roll.

    • Select a time

To perform a factory reset;
