Prerequisites:

  1. A Google Workspace subscription (any tier) with access to the Google Admin Console

  2. Admin-level access (super admin or delegated admin with device management permissions)

  3. A ChromeOS device management licence assigned to each device. Either Kiosk & Signage, Chrome Enterprise, or Chrome Enterprise Perpetual.

  4. ChromeOS version 81 or later on the device

  5. Device(s) enrolled to your Google Admin domain

Once you have enrolled your ChromeOS Device to your Google Admin account, you can now follow these instructions to set up the Device for use with embed signage.

1. Create an Organisational Unit

2. Once the organisational unit has been setup. In the side bar go to Devices → Chrome → Apps and Extensions

3. Go to the Kiosks tab

4. Select the organisational unit you created

5. In the bottom right you will see a yellow '+' button. Hover over it and click 'Add by URL'

6. Enter the below URL and accept the kiosk warning

7. In the panel that opens for the kiosk app ensure 'Allow app to manage power' is set to on.

8. For additional remote control, you will need to install the Device Controller companion extension.

On this kiosk app panel scroll down to find the Extensions settings. Then click Add Extension → Add from a custom URL

9. Enter the below Extension ID:

Ensure the dropdown below it is set to 'From a custom URL' and set the URL to:

https://player.embedsignage.com/extension/updates.xml

10. Ensure that the "Embed Signage Player" is set to auto launch

11. Finally click save. Any devices now enrolled and assigned to this Organisational Unit will inherit the embed signage Kiosk app along with the Device Controller companion extension.
