UPDATED 4th July 2024: Currently devices running Chromium versions of 94 or older can only show Power BI reports with manual intervention.

Below we've outlined the device(s) the Power BI integration works on without any intervention on the device itself.

  • Windows

  • iOS

  • Android (12L+)

Are you Running a device with Chromium Version 94 or below?

You'll see reports load with a pop up on screen like below:

To interact with the pop up on the device, you need to enable 'pass gesture to touch' on the playlist item, then publish to your device.

Go to the playlist item and select the interactivity options:

Set the 'Pass gestures to application?' option to Yes and save

Now publish this to your device.

On your device, you will need to connect a keyboard and/or mouse via USB and then select 'Don't show this again' followed by 'Not Now'. This will then load the report on the device.

For BrightSign devices, as you cannot see the cursor of a mouse connected, please connect a USB Keyboard then Tab to 'Don't show this again' and toggle on using the spacebar. Then tab to 'Not Now' and hit enter.

Please Note: Microsoft have officially announced dropping of support for Chromium 94 or older from 31st August 2024, so while the pop up may be the current solution, it may/may not be come that date.

Performance Expectations & Troubleshooting

To display a Power BI Dashboard or Report will require modern browser built into the device and the good level of hardware performance (processor).

This means that some more Reports and Dashboards may be more suited to more powerful devices with very current versions of Chromium. If you experience issues with load speeds or performance of Power BI on a device, please review the below:

  • Try setting the widget animation to NONE in the playlist

  • Try setting the Report or Dashboard to play for a minimum of 1 minute at a time

  • Try to use only one zone in a layout for Power BI Reports or Dashboards at a time

  • You can have other zones of content in the layout but note that this may adversely affect the performance of other elements (RSS feeds or scrolling text for example)

  • If content appears too disrupted, we recommend trying to run just a single full screen zone for Power BI only

If you have tried the above but still encounter issues with playback, please contact [email protected] with details of your playback device, app version and layout structure so we can further assist you.
