Show Social Media Feeds on your Digital Signage

Integrate your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X (Twitter) accounts for dynamic content updates on your Digital Signage displays with embed signage.

Here we'll guide you through how to integrate your Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X (Twitter) accounts to embed signage so you can boost engagement and connect with your audience with digital signage.

Connect your Social Media accounts to embed

This can be done in two ways:

  1. via the Social Feed content app in a playlist

  2. via the External Services page


Connect your Social accounts via External Service page:

Follow these steps to connect via the External Services page:

  • go to External Services

  • click 'Add New'

  • Give the service a recognisable name

  • Select your Social Media platform (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or X (Twitter)

  • click 'Create'

  • On the next page, click the 'Authorise' button

  • Follow the pop up steps to connect your social media account and accept the permissions requested (see below for permissions per platform).

  • Once completed, you'll see the service has been 'Authorised' and is ready to use

Connect Social platforms directly in a playlist:

Follow these steps to connect via a playlist:

  • Insert the Social Feed content app to a playlist
    ​

  • Click 'Edit' and then 'Customise' to enter the customisation area

  • Under the 'Source' section click the 'Add source' drop down and select the relevant social platform

  • Give the service a recognisable name

  • Select 'Authorise'

  • Follow the pop up steps to connect your social media account and accept the permissions requested (see below for permissions per platform).

  • Once completed, you'll be redirected back to the Social Feed content app customisation area

If you are connecting a Page that is managed by a Meta Business Portfolio, you will also see the below permission request:

How to add Social Media Feeds to your Digital Signage playlist

  1. Start by adding a new widget to your playlist.

2. Select Social Feed to seamlessly bring your social posts to your screens.

3. Click the Edit icon to change the playlist item settings.

4. Tap Customise to personalise your Social Feed design and settings.

Choose a Social Media feed to display on your digital signage

Under the 'Source' section select the Social platform and either select from a pre-existing connection or add a new connection.

Once connected, you'll be able to choose the relevant page/account to pull content from.

Facebook = can select from list of Pages that have been authorised.

LinkedIn = can select from list of Pages from the connect account. Can also exclude any specific IDs / URNs of posts using the Ignore IDs option.

Instagram = nothing further to select. Only pulls content from connected account.

X = nothing further to select. Only pulls content from connected account.

Customise how your Social Media Feeds display on your screens

Fields

You have a list of fields which you can show or hide these are:

  • Body - the text content from the post

  • QR Code - automatically generated QR code linking to the post

  • Date - the date of the post

  • Author - the author of the post

  • Author Image - the image of the author for the post

  • Feed Logo - the Social Media platform logo to indicate where the content has come from (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X)

  • Engagement - show how many likes and comments there are for the post

  • Progress Bar - a visual representation of how long the post will be displayed for on screen

Design

There are a range of design options to choose from:

Templates - pre-defined designs to display your Social Media content

  • Block (default)

  • Half

  • Full

Flip - swaps the media and text elements of the template around

Themes - for each Template you can choose a theme

  • Light (default)

  • Dark

  • Custom (change the Template colours / gradients used)

  • Custom Theme options include:

    • Media Background (when no media available, this will show)

      • Solid colour

      • Gradient

    • Text Background (remaining area of template where text is used)

      • Solid colour

      • Gradient

    • Progress Bar

      • Solid colour

      • Gradient

    • Font

      • Solid colour only

Body font - applied to the Body filed. Choose from the font library (including any custom brand fonts you've uploaded)

Note: The gradient picker allows for Linear and Radial gradients to be added with the ability to save to your presets.

Data

Control how the data from posts are handled in the Design:

  • Body limit - set a character limit for the Body field

  • Number of items - how many posts will be pulled into the feed (chronological order, newest first)

  • Interval(s) - how long each posts will display on screen for (in seconds)

  • Show videos? - if video content is available, choose to display or not. If not, video thumbnail will be shown in Media field instead

  • Use video duration? - if selected, entire video will show before moving to next post. This will override the 'Interval' setting for that specific post.

  • Show reposts? Show / hide reposts on Facebook, LinkedIn and X.

Animations

Control how the Template transitions from one post to another:

  • Fade - all items fade in and out

  • Slide - media and text fields slide in / out from opposite directions

  • Bounce - all items bounce in and out


Key information about the Social Feed Content App

Responsive design:

Content Apps (such as the Social Feed app) are responsive and designed to automatically resize to the zone they are in.

If you were to set a zone to 'Full Screen' and publish this to devices with different resolutions and orientations, the Content App would automatically adjust - for example in portrait:

Content types that will be pulled in to your digital signage:

For video to show from a post:

  • the video must be uploaded as a media item to the post

  • YouTube videos and videos from a link will not show

Video volume control:

Volume control is available for video and is handled via the playlist item volume settings.
